Big read at the big school

The library doors were open late at OLHMS, when the big kids read to their younger peers. Big Read at the Big School was a success this year, with more volunteers than ever before according to Kathleen Spedale.

Middle schoolers set up tents, got out their flashlights and even displayed books for the elementary school kids to pick out and have read to them.

“We wanted to show them the choices they have in books. We wanted to volunteer for the Big Read at the Big School because we love reading and maybe the younger kids will learn to love reading too after this event,” said 6th Grade Volunteers Abby and Alana.

Throughout the evening snacks were available and Reading Bingo was played. The fun night is a great way for the student community to come together and learn from each other.
