Fourth-grade students from all over District 123 were recently invited to Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School for a visit with the band. Starting next year, the students can choose from a variety of different instruments to play in the band, and this field trip was to help them decide.
“I’m really glad that we got to come here today and listen to the band play. It was cool to see the different instruments so we could decide what we want to play next year,” said Gabriella.
Following a performance, Instrumental Music Teacher, Beth Lyons, introduced the students to each section of the band. Students then had the opportunity to test out a few instruments and narrow down their picks.
Each student was sent home with more information about the band.
